PRMc now BSI-certified
We are proud to announce that – following a period of thorough testing – ARH’s high-end passport reader PRMc received the official BSI TR-03105 Part 4 compliance certificate. Let’s see the details.
What is BSI?
BSI is the abbreviation of Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, in English the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). BSI is the central IT security service provider, in charge of managing computer and communication security for the German government. BSI created various internationally accepted standards related to IT security.
What is BSI TR-03105?
BSI TR-03105 (Technical Guideline BSI TR-03105 – ePassport Conformity Testing (TR-ePass)) is a standard released in 2005 in order to provide test specifications ensuring the international interoperability of electronic travel documents and reader systems.
The main parts of the certificate:
- requirements for the reader (hardware that handles eMRTDs): BSI TR-03105 Part 4
- requirements for the software: BSI TR-03105 Part 5.1. (software that handles e-passports) and Part 5.2. (software that handles e-IDs)
Advantages of having this certificate
The BSI certificate is an internationally accepted point of reference. BSI is one of the few independent government agencies in the world that checks and verifies compliance of eID documents and inspection systems with internationally adopted standards.
Having this certificate proves that PRMc complies with the highly strict rules and parameters which are thoroughly checked and measured by certified product labs – ensuring that the reader does a perfect job in processing internationally used electronic travel documents. ARH is one of the very few products/vendors compliant with BSI standards.
